Budapest assures a safe visit for Putin despite ICC warrant

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be arrested by the International Criminal Court during his visit to Budapest.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.

“We will receive Putin, ensure successful negotiations, and his safe return to his homeland,” he said.

It should be noted that although Hungary officially ratified the Rome Statute, the country's authorities had already announced in 2023 that they would not execute the ICC's warrant against Putin for the deportation of Ukrainian children.
