The US military build-up in the Caribbean is unjustified and heightens tensions in the region.

Axar.az informs, citing Interfax, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said this on Wednesday.

“We are in close contact with Caracas on all fronts. Specialists from various agencies are engaged in our cooperation, and all communication channels remain open. We stand in full solidarity with Venezuela,” Ryabkov told reporters in Moscow.

He added that “the unwarranted expansion of the American military presence in the southern Caribbean—and beyond—creates a situation of heightened tension, and only the United States is to blame for this.”

According to Ryabkov, Venezuela is making every effort to prevent drug trafficking in the region.
