Washington eases sanctions on Belarus national airline

The U.S. Treasury Department has eased some sanctions against Belarus.

Axar.az informs that Reuters reported the information.

It is noted that restrictions related to the national airline have been lifted, and operations involving President Alexander Lukashenko’s aircraft have been permitted.

The publication states that this move is an important step in warming relations between the U.S. and Belarus. In September, after a call from U.S. President Donald Trump, Belarus released 52 prisoners.

In return, Belarus received a promise to lift sanctions against its national airline “Belavia.” The decision reportedly allows the airline to purchase components for its aircraft and receive maintenance services.
