Chelsea sale funds to go to Abramovich

The bulk of the proceeds from the sale of the Chelsea football club will go to Roman Abramovich's companies, not to Ukraine.

Axar.az informs that the Times reported this.

"The bulk of the proceeds from the sale will be used to pay off the debts of the club's former owner, Roman Abramovich. The British government has promised that the proceeds from the sale will be sent as humanitarian aid to Ukrainians.

It is reported that about 1.54 billion pounds will be used to pay off the credit claims of Abramovich's companies. According to experts, since the current financial statements do not provide for the cancellation of these debts, it is possible that direct payments to Ukraine will not occur at all.

Roman Abramovich owned Chelsea from 2003 to 2022. In May 2022, he sold the club to a consortium led by American businessman Todd Bowlin for $ 5.33 billion due to sanctions," the report said.
