Germany plans to boost Ukraine aid by some three bln euros

Germany plans to increase financial aid for Ukraine by about three billion euros ($3.50 billion) next year, a government source said on Tuesday, confirming a report in business daily Handelsblatt.

Axar.az informs, citing Reuters, the 2026 budget had previously allocated 8.5 billion euros to Ukraine, including military support for its war with Russia.

The government source told Reuters that the defense ministry would raise the issue in final parliamentary meetings on the budget next week where adjustments can be made.

The source said Chancellor Friedrich Merz supported the plans which were expected to be agreed.
