Flooding continues to worsen in Russia's Republic of Dagestan, prompting emergency measures in several districts.
Axar.az reports that the most serious situation has developed in the Gergebilsky District, where a state of emergency has been declared.
More than 100 residents have been evacuated due to flooding. Power outages have affected 48 settlements, while transport links with 56 villages have been disrupted. A section of the Kizilyurt–Kostek highway has been closed following an emergency water release from a local hydroelectric power plant.
The severe weather has now affected 12 districts across the republic. Heavy rainfall, flooding, and mudslides have cut off transport access to 60 settlements.
In the Kaitagsky District, rising water levels in the Ulluchay River partially destroyed a dam and flooded 13 residential homes. Residents were evacuated, and floodwaters are gradually receding.
In the Charodinsky District, a passenger car was swept away by strong currents. Local residents also said that an emergency water release from the Irganayskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant washed away about 100 meters of a roadway.
Emergency services and road crews remain on the scene. Rescuers have warned that the situation could deteriorate further as heavy rainfall continues.
