Aston Villa have made a move for free-agent defender Sergio Ramos as the Premier League club looks to strengthen its defence amid a series of injuries.
Axar.az reports, citing Goal, that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has personally met with the 40-year-old Spanish defender in an attempt to convince him to join the club.
Emery wants to add Ramos’s leadership and experience to his squad as Villa face a demanding schedule.
However, Ramos would not be eligible to play in the Champions League for Aston Villa if he joins the club, as he was not included on the team’s UEFA squad list.
Ramos has been without a club and is currently available as a free agent.
