Vestri defended very well in the match against Qarabag.
Axar.az reports that Qarabag head coach Gurban Gurbanov made the remarks during a post-match press conference.
The coach shared his thoughts after his side's 3-0 victory over Iceland's Vestri in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round in Baku.
"I would like to thank the fans. It felt as if we were playing a Champions League match. From the very first game, we understood that we had to be very responsible. That gave us extra motivation. I thank every one of our supporters. I wasn't entirely satisfied with certain aspects of our game plan. Some players are at different stages of preparation. We felt a bit of fatigue toward the end of the second half. The opponent defended very well. They had analyzed us thoroughly. We must be very responsible in the second leg. A tough match will work in our favor. I congratulate the players," Gurbanov said.
He added that not all players could be included in the matchday squad.
"In the opening matches, we have to be very careful. We need to take the players' level of preparation into account. We can't make a decision about rotation just yet. We still have time ahead of us."
The head coach also commented on Elvin Jafarguliyev.
"He has returned to the team. We had several meetings. In any case, we all have to follow the rules. When necessary, we must react firmly. We spoke with him, and he has returned to the team."
It should be noted that the second leg will be played on July 17.
