Putin: Russia is developing hypersonic nuclear missiles

The country is working on a new generation of nuclear-powered cruise missiles, which will reach hypersonic speeds in the future.

Axar.az reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin said this during his speech at the award ceremony for the creators of the Burevestnik and Poseidon systems.

The President noted that the high-power, small-sized nuclear reactors used in the Burevestnik missile are activated in seconds, while conventional reactors take hours and sometimes days to activate.

“A new generation of weapons is already being created based on such energy devices. In addition, the development of the next generation of nuclear-powered cruise missiles has begun. Their speed will exceed the speed of sound by more than three times and in the future will reach hypersonic speeds,” the head of state said.
