Israel uncovers 7-km Hamas tunnel in southern Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces have discovered a 7-kilometer-long tunnel used by radicals in the southern Gaza Strip.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Israeli army press service.

"This is one of the longest and most complex tunnels discovered in the Gaza Strip. It is more than 7 kilometers long and up to 25 meters deep. The tunnel contained approximately 80 bunkers, including command posts used by the high command of the Hamas terrorist regime to store weapons, stay for long periods, and plan terrorist attacks against Israeli troops," the statement said.

According to the Israeli army, among the high-ranking Hamas commanders who used this tunnel was Mohammed Shabaneh, commander of the Rafah Brigade.

He also noted that the tunnel was dug near the Egyptian border, under a densely populated area, near the "Philadelphia Corridor".
