COP Troika to lead climate action plan

The "troika" of COP chairmen - Azerbaijan, Brazil, and Turkiye - will lead the Global Implementation Accelerator (GIA) initiative adopted at the COP30 climate conference in Belem, Brazil.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, the official representative of the European Union (EU) in Brussels.

According to her, the GIA is one of the post-COP30 processes:

"The EU has a clear path towards climate neutrality by 2050. Therefore, we are ready and willing to help with this work, depending on how the "troika" will take forward the work within the GIA.

A. Itkonen noted that COP30 has ended and the delegations have already started working on the next steps within the climate agenda:

"Most of the delegations and negotiators have already started thinking about what concrete steps they will propose. This also applies to the European Commission".

Recall that the "Global Implementation Accelerator" aims to select universal measures to combat climate change in different regions of the world. The priorities are methane emissions reduction, renewable energy sources, and clean technologies.
