Putin and Erdogan discussed Ukraine peace plan by phone

Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Kremlin press service reported.

Axar.az informs according to the statement, the two leaders exchanged views on the situation around Ukraine, including the latest U.S. proposals for a peace settlement. Putin noted that the proposals, in the form Russia has seen, are in line with the discussions held at the U.S.–Russia summit in Alaska and could, in principle, serve as a basis for a final peace agreement.

The Kremlin added that Putin once again reiterated Russia’s interest in a political and diplomatic resolution of the conflict.

Erdogan, for his part, expressed readiness to continue supporting the negotiation process and to keep Istanbul available as a venue for talks.
