A military operation may be carried out in Syria against the SDF, the wing of the PKK terrorist organization.
Axar.az reports, citing Turkiye’s Haber7.com, that there is little time left until December 31, the final deadline for the implementation of the March 10 agreement in Syria.
Under the agreement signed on March 10, 2025, the SDF was supposed to join the Syrian army, while all administrative structures in the region — including airports, oil fields, and border crossings with Iraq and Turk — were to be transferred to the central government. The SDF was given until December 31, 2025, to fulfill these provisions. However, since the signing of the agreement, the SDF has taken no steps. None of the eight articles of the agreement have been implemented.
It was also reported that Damascus’s post–December 31 roadmap has already been determined. According to available information, the deadline given to the militants will not be extended.
It was noted that Turkiye is ready at any moment to support the Syrian government if a military operation against the SDF takes place:
“If the Damascus administration requests it during a planned operation east of the Euphrates, Turkiye will also provide support. Turkiye’s minister of national defense has stated this several times. He said: ‘When Turkiye carried out several operations in Syria in 2016, both the US and Russia were present in the region. We did what was necessary without asking permission from anyone, and we finished it. If the need arises in the future, we will again do what is necessary without asking permission from anyone.’”
