At least 16 killed in unrest in Iran over the past week

At least 16 people have been killed in unrest in Iran over the past week.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the Iran-based human rights organization HRANA.

“In addition, 582 people have been arrested,” the statement said.

The violence comes as protests against inflation have spread across the country, leading to clashes between demonstrators and security forces.

It should be noted that Iran is witnessing its largest protests in the past three years due to soaring inflation and a record sharp depreciation of the national currency against the U.S. dollar.
