Magnitude 6.2 earthquake hits western Japan

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.2 struck western Japan on Tuesday morning.

Axar.az informs according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the tremor originated inland in western Shimane Prefecture at a depth of around 10 kilometers.

Several aftershocks were recorded across Shimane and neighboring Tottori prefectures following the main quake.

No tsunami warning was issued.
