Lukashenko: Maduro’s US detention involved deal, betrayal

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko commented on the recent events in Venezuela during an award ceremony in Minsk.

Axar.az reports that Lukashenko said that there was a deal in the detention of Maduro and his wife by US special forces.

“I want you to understand me: there was everything there. A deal, money paid to people in Venezuela, including military personnel, civilians... There was a deal and betrayal. Everything happened,” he noted.

Lukashenko linked the US operation in Venezuela to Donald Trump’s “concession to the military”:

“Venezuela is a friendly nation that once extended a helping hand to us. If anyone has forgotten, I have not forgotten. They did not save our country, but they supported it a lot. During the time of Chavez, when they worked together with Nicolas Maduro... I was often there, I knew both of them.”
