Russian takes more than 500 square km of Ukraine in January

Russian forces have captured 17 settlements since the beginning of January, bringing more than 500 square kilometers of territory under their control.

Axar.az infroms this was stated by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov following an inspection trip to the area where the “West” group of forces is based.

“Combat operations are underway in the settlements of Kovsharivka and Hlushkivka. Overall, up to 800 servicemen from Ukrainian units remain in the encircled area, which covers a section of terrain measuring 4 by 6 kilometers,” Gerasimov said.
