Azerbaijan becomes key global air transit hub amid Iran crisis

Amid the anticipated U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, several countries have closed their airspace, forcing international airlines to urgently seek alternative flight routes.

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, this crisis has positioned Azerbaijan’s airspace as one of the safest and most critical transit hubs for global aviation.

Data from Flightradar24, a specialized aviation tracking platform, confirms that Azerbaijan has emerged as a key alternative corridor for international flights.

Currently, the majority of international air traffic is routed through Azerbaijani airspace. This not only underscores Azerbaijan’s role as the sole reliable gateway along the East-West air corridor but also reinforces Baku’s status as a strategically important logistics hub with regional and global significance.
