UN Security Council is set to meet later today

The U.N. Security Council has scheduled an emergency meeting on the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.

Axar.az informs, citing AP, Israel’s U.N. Mission says the meeting will take place at 4 p.m. EST (01:00 a.m Baku time) at the request of Bahrain and France.

Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Danny Danon, says Israel “is strong, united and determined to defend its citizens against any existential threat.” Danon also said that “Israel will never allow an Iranian nuclear state.”

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, meanwhile, condemned the strikes on Iran and the Islamic Republic’s retaliation.

“The use of force by the United States and Israel against Iran, and the subsequent retaliation by Iran across the region, undermine international peace and security,” Guterres said in a statement. He also called for an immediate ceasefire and for all parties to return to the negotiating table.
