North Korea fires projectile towards sea

North Korea fired a projectile toward the sea on Saturday, which Tokyo said may have been a ballistic missile.

Axar.az reports, citing The Guardian, the projectile was launched off North Korea’s east coast, the South Korean military said, without providing further details.

Japan’s coast guard reported that the projectile appeared to have fallen into the sea, outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone, the country’s defense ministry said on X.

The launch comes five days after South Korea and the United States conducted major joint drills, which they say are purely defensive and aimed at testing readiness against potential military threats from North Korea.
