NATO expands presence in Arctic and North Atlantic

NATO is strengthening its presence across the Arctic and North Atlantic, ramping up patrols and joint exercises as Russian submarine activity intensifies.

Axar.az reports, citing Business Insider, that NATO’s operations across air, land, and sea in the region have more than doubled over the past two to three years.

Rune Andersen, head of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters explained that this increase is “partly in response to expanded Russian submarine deployments beyond their usual areas” and reflects “the need to monitor them closely.”
