Syria welcomes US-Iran ceasefire announcement

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Al-Shaibani stated that regional crises are not separate from Syria’s national efforts and said they welcome the ceasefire announced between the United States and Iran.

Axar.az informs that speaking at a joint press conference in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, the minister said Syria has suffered greatly for more than 14 years due to the intervention of Iran and its affiliated “militias,” emphasizing that more than one million people have been killed and 15 million people have become refugees or internally displaced.

Al-Shaibani affirmed that Syria, despite these complexities, continues to advance its strategic plans for reconstruction and development, expanding partnerships, implementing transitional justice, rebuilding institutions, and creating a safe environment for the voluntary return of refugees.
