Germany approved €6.6m Israel arms exports during Iran war

Germany approved arms exports to Israel worth €6.6 million ($7.8 million) during the early weeks of the Iran conflict.

Axar.az reports, citing DPA, that the approvals covered the period from February 28—when Israeli and US forces launched strikes on Iran—through March 27, according to Economy Ministry responses to inquiries from The Left party.

The exports did not include heavy weapons such as tanks or artillery, but consisted of “other military equipment.”

Arms sales to Israel remain a politically sensitive issue in Germany. After the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, Berlin initially increased its support, later introduced restrictions amid criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, and then eased them again following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in October.
