Israel says Hamas military leader killed in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) have announced that Hamas military leader Muhammad Odeh has been killed in an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip.

Axar.az reports, citing the IDF, the strike targeted terror infrastructure sites in the heart of Gaza City that Odeh had been using as hideouts, following months of intelligence surveillance tracking his movements and those of his operatives.

It was also reported that a nearby apartment belonging to another Hamas operative who participated in the October 7 attacks, and who was part of Odeh’s network, was also struck.

The IDF stated that prior to the operation, measures were taken to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.

Odeh had assumed leadership of Hamas’s military wing following the killing of Izz al-Din al-Haddad last week and had previously served as head of the organization’s intelligence headquarters.

The IDF described his elimination as a significant blow to Hamas’s efforts to rebuild its military capabilities.
