Armenia detains 14 over alleged election violations

Fourteen citizens have been detained in Armenia on suspicion of violating election legislation.

Axar.az reports, citing the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, that as of 5:00 p.m., a total of 57 reports had been received via the ministry’s operations center hotline (112) and another hotline number.

According to the statement, the reports include 19 cases of alleged repeat voting, 15 cases of violation of voting secrecy, two cases of obstruction of the exercise of voting rights, and one case each related to bribery and possession of a cold weapon at a polling station.

The collected materials have been forwarded to preliminary investigation bodies.

The ministry added that 198 additional reports of alleged violations are currently under investigation.
