Turkiye ready to help clear mines in Hormuz Strait

Turkiye is ready to help clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz if the relevant initiative is launched.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks in an interview with South Korea’s JTBC television channel.

“We are ready to be part of the search for a solution and, if requested, to facilitate the ongoing process between the parties. If an agreement is reached between the sides or if we are asked to contribute to efforts to clear mines from the strait, we would be happy to do so,” he said.

Speaking about the prospects of fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Fidan noted that discussions between the United States and Iran had initially focused on nuclear issues, but that the status of the strategic waterway has become increasingly important in light of recent developments.
