Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the first High-Level Committee meeting under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has concluded successfully in Burgenstock, Switzerland.
Axar.az reports that according to Sharif's X account, the discussions were held in a “positive and constructive atmosphere” and produced “encouraging progress,” including agreement on a roadmap toward a final deal within 60 days, the creation of a High-Level Committee for political oversight, and the start of further technical talks.
“Alhamdulillah, the First High-Level Committee Meeting under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has concluded successfully,” Sharif stated.
He praised the leadership of both the United States and Iran, saying he “commends their continued commitment to constructive engagement,” and thanked Qatar and other friendly countries for their support.
Sharif also expressed gratitude to the Swiss government for hosting the talks, describing its role as facilitative.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role, he said he “pays special tribute” to Field Marshal Asim Munir, adding that his efforts were “untiring” and essential for the progress achieved.
He also thanked Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, noting their contributions to the negotiations.
Sharif added that Pakistan will continue to support dialogue and diplomacy toward a peaceful and lasting resolution.
