High temperatures fuel wildfires in Turkiye

High temperatures across Turkiye have triggered a surge in forest fires nationwide.

Axar.az informs, citing Turkish media, that the latest outbreaks were reported in four provinces. Three of the fires have been brought under control, and cooling operations are underway.

Firefighting efforts are continuing in Fethiye district of Mugla Province, where a wildfire broke out in a forested area near residential neighborhoods at around 12:30 p.m. local time.

One neighborhood has been evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities are battling the blaze with 14 helicopters, five aircraft, 21 fire engines, nine water tankers, three bulldozers, and around 200 personnel.

Measures are being taken to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential areas.
