Romania summons Russian Ambassador after drone incidents

Romania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Russia's ambassador to Bucharest following an incident between July 24 and 26, during which Romanian armed forces shot down three drones that entered the country without authorization.

Axar.az reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, that Romania lodged a formal protest, stating that it is "absolutely inadmissible and intolerable" for Russia to continue violating Romanian airspace, which it noted is also NATO and European Union airspace.

As part of its response, Romania handed the ambassador a diplomatic note declaring a member of the Russian mission in Bucharest persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within five days. The foreign ministry also recalled Romania's ambassador to Russia to Bucharest for consultations.
