Iranian newspaper warns against clash with Ukraine

Iran making a confrontation with Ukraine over the alleged Ukrainian attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea would be a mistake, and Tehran should seek the right way to resolve tensions with Kyiv.

Axar.az reports that this was stated in an article published by Iran's influential Jomhuri-ye Eslami newspaper.

"If Iran does not act prudently regarding Ukraine's attack on the Iranian ship, the United States will achieve its objective. To thwart those who planned Ukraine's attack on the Iranian vessel, Iranian officials must act with prudence and foresight to resolve tensions with Ukraine," the article said.

The article also argued that Tehran should pursue a different approach from Russia on the issue of Ukraine.

"The right course is for Iran to separate its policy toward Ukraine from Russia's and, instead of becoming involved, seek to ease tensions with Kyiv. Hidden hands are trying to lure Iran into the Ukraine trap. Iranian officials must be careful not to fall into that trap," it added.
