Ukrainians themselves wanted to continue fighting because they were succeeding on the battlefield and had already driven Russian forces out of the Kyiv region.

Axar.az reports that former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson made the remarks while discussing why Russia must lose its war against Ukraine on the School of War podcast.

“It's total utter bollocks. There was no European leader, no Western leader who could conceivably have stopped the Ukrainians for fighting for their country. All I wanted to say to him was, "Look, you know, I can't be more Ukrainian than the Ukrainians. We can't, but if you want to fight on, then we're going to be with you. That’s the position that remains the position of the British people,” Johnson said.

According to him, claims about his role in derailing the talks are being spread by the Kremlin.
