China warns of further glacier collapses in Nepal

China has warned of a major risk of further glacier collapses and landslides along the Nepal border.

Axar.az reports, citing South China Morning Post, that the Ministry of Water Resources warned of an ongoing threat along the Cuojian River in Nepal, which flows into the Purepuqiang River in Tibet.

Chinese authorities also warned that further landslides downstream in Tibet could cause a new barrier lake to form.

It should be noted that severe flooding and a massive surge of ice, floodwater and rocks struck northern Nepal on August 26. The disaster has killed at least 903 people in Nepal, while thousands remain missing.
