Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has warned South Korea against maintaining a military presence or participating in military operations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

Axar.az reports that Baghaei made the remarks in a post on X, stressing that Iran and South Korea have maintained relations for more than 64 years based on mutual respect.

“Iran attaches great importance to its friendly relations with the Republic of Korea,” Baghaei said.

However, he warned that any country’s military presence or participation in operations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz would be viewed by Tehran as “direct support for the party carrying out the aggression” and would have “serious consequences.”

“No sovereign and responsible country should succumb to U.S. pressure and threats and become complicit in acts of aggression and horrific crimes against the great Iranian people,” Baghaei said.

He added that the Iranian people are “defending themselves against U.S. aggression” and “firmly responding to U.S. war crimes against women and children.”
