A Belgian drug kingpin has been arrested in Istanbul.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkiye’s Ministry of Interior, that S.G. was detained in the Zeytinburnu district during a joint operation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department’s Anti-Narcotics and Intelligence units.

The ministry said S.G., who was internationally wanted on charges of drug trafficking and forming a criminal organization, was identified as the leader of an organized crime syndicate operating an international drug network established in Belgium.

The suspect was found to have organized the shipment of two tons of cocaine from Colombia to Belgium, from where the drugs were to be distributed across Europe.
