Unemployment has risen sharply in Russia

The number of unemployed registered in employment centres in Russia is 2.1 million.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Russian Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov.

"According to statistics as of May 1, the total number of unemployed in the Russian Federation is 4.3 million. This is 5.8 per cent of the able-bodied population," the minister said.

According to him, the total number of unemployed increased by 800,000 people compared to March.

The Minister noted that currently there is tension in the labour market. There are 18 candidates for every 10 vacancies.
