Russian President Vladimir Putin has turned Belarus into a base for an attack on Ukraine.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian political scientist Andrey Piontkovsky.

According to him, during his last meeting with the Russian President, Lukashenko raised the issue of unification of the two countries:

"He assured Putin that Belarus is not ready for full unification and that the two countries need economic relations. As a result, Putin allowed Lukashenko to run the country independently under certain conditions. If Lukashenko wants to be the head of an independent state, Putin will keep it for him. It makes all of Belarus a full base for possible aggression by Russian troops, especially against Ukraine. If Putin wants to attack Ukraine from the north, Belarus will allow him to do so. This is a serious change in Russian-Belarusian relations, a threat to Ukrainians. Ukraine must keep this in mind".
