Moscow continues its activities in the direction of eliminating contradictions between Yerevan and Baku and concluding a peace treaty.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

"Russia is conducting purposeful work in the direction of opening transport communications in the South Caucasus, concluding a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, as well as resolving the most acute Armenian-Azerbaijani conflicts," Gerasimov said.

According to him, the Russian military contingent continues to perform tasks in Karabakh:

"During the combat operations, Russian peacekeepers provided the placement of more than 10,000 civilians in their places of displacement and later ensured the safe access of almost the entire population of the region to the territory of Armenia. In addition, about 300 wounded were brought to hospitals by peacekeepers. At the same time, the Russian military contingent continues to fulfil its tasks as a provider of opportunities to build a peaceful life and return residents to the region."
