The IDF announces that it began ground operations yesterday in northern Gaza’s Beit Hanoun.

Axar.az reports, citing Times of Israel, the offensive there is aimed at destroying Hamas infrastructure and expanding a buffer zone along the border, the military says. During the operation, Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck several Hamas targets in the area.

The IDF adds that it is enabling Palestinian civilians to evacuate the “combat zone for their safety.”

It should be noted that the Israeli army had previously announced plans for a ground operation in Rafah, Gaza.
