The peace treaty signing process between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not reached a deadlock.
Axar.az reports that Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan stated this in a briefing with journalists.
"I do not think the process has stalled. Perhaps our proposal to sign the agreement was somewhat unexpected for the Azerbaijani side," he said.
Simonyan emphasized that both countries have enough strength to independently determine their fate.
It should be noted that on March 13, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the conclusion of negotiations on the peace treaty with Armenia. The statement noted that talks on the text of the agreement on peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia had been finalized.
At the same time, Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that for the peace treaty to be signed, Armenia must meet two conditions: remove claims against Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity from its Constitution and support the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and its relevant structures.
