Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergey Shaptala, has been relieved of his post.

Axar.az reports that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky informed about this in a video message.

"Today I held a meeting with the command of the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine and the Minister of Defense Rustam Umerov. Based on the results of the deliberations: first, I changed the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the suggestion of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, I appointed Major General Anatoliy Barhylevych as the new chief of the General Staff. He is an experienced person - he understands the tasks of this war and the goals of Ukraine," Zelensky said.
