The text of the new Constitution should not contain references to the Declaration of Independence.

Axar.az reports that these words were said by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in a statement to journalists.

“As I said earlier, when we read the text of the Declaration of Independence, we see that it says that Armenia cannot have independent statehood. This is impossible. Therefore, I cannot say that the text of the new Constitution should contain references to the Declaration of Independence. The text of the new Constitution should not contain references to the Declaration of Independence. But the decision is made by the Armenian people. Of course, political forces put forward arguments for and against,” he said.

It should be noted that one of Azerbaijan's requirements for signing a peace agreement is to amend the Armenian Constitution. The Declaration of Independence, which the Armenian Constitution refers to, reflects territorial claims to Azerbaijan.
