Latvian Foreign Minister Krisjanis Karinsh has resigned.
Axar.az reports that the information was published by the "rus.lsm.lv" portal.
It was reported that he would leave his post on April 10.
According to information, K. Karinsh announced that he would leave his post after the meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina.
Latvian Sejm (Parliament) will hold a vote on the nomination of the new foreign minister on April 11.
It should be noted that the minister's resignation is related to the expenditure of large financial resources on aeroplane flights for the participation of the Latvian delegation and K. Karinsh in the European Union (EU) conferences. These costs were financed from the state budget and the EU budget. As a result, the General Prosecutor's Office of Latvia started investigations.
It should be noted that K. Karinsh was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in September 2023. He was the Prime Minister of Latvia in 2019-2023.
