On April 19, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy to our country, Claudio Taffuri, in connection with the end of his diplomatic activities.

The press service department told Axar.az of the ministry that the issues arising from the existing multidimensional strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, as well as the current regional situation, were discussed at the meeting.

Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Ambassador Claudio Taffuri for his efforts in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy during his tenure in our country and wished him continued success in his future activities.

It was brought to attention that the multidimensional strategic partnership relations between the two countries in various, including political, economic, trade, energy security, transport and communications, cultural, humanitarian, and other directions are satisfying, and the existing Strategic Dialogue mechanism has made an important contribution to relations. In this direction, the importance of continuing mutual visits and contacts, as well as political consultations, was noted.

The other party was informed about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in our country this year. COP29 will make an additional contribution to cooperation with several partners, including Italy, in the field of combating climate change.

Speaking about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the restoration and construction works in the territories freed from occupation, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked the Italian side for its fair position at this sensitive time. It was noted that Italy's position should be followed by several actors who have demonstrated a one-sided and biased approach, threatening regional peace and security-building measures.

Ambassador Claudio Taffuri expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation provided during his diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and expressed confidence in further strengthening of the partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy.

During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
