Sweden Declares a Major Military Aid Package to Ukraine Worth 1.16 Billion Euros
Axar.az reports that information was provided by the Swedish government.
According to the information, the aid package includes the "ASC 890" early warning aircraft.
"Sweden is donating the 'ASC 890' radar surveillance and control aircraft to Ukraine, thus strengthening Ukraine's air defense capabilities," the information stated.
Tom Samuelsson, the press secretary to the Swedish Prime Minister, also told journalists that Ukraine will receive an additional 2 units of the "ASC 890" aircraft.
The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Ilya Evlash, described the "ASC 890" aircraft as unique:
"This is a type of flying radar that helps identify targets. Russia has a similar long-range radar aircraft, the A-50, but we have already destroyed two of them. Now such an aircraft will also be in the Ukrainian Air Force."
According to him, even one such aircraft being delivered to Ukraine will enable more efficient management of drones, including F-16s.
It is worth noting that the radar installed on the "ASC 890" aircraft can track ships, aircraft, and missiles within a radius of 300-400 km and at an altitude of 6 km.
