The first supermoon of 2024 will be observed on August 19 at 22:26. It's a Blue Super Moon.
Axar.az reports that the Shamakhi Astrophysics Observatory of the Ministry of Science and Education said that during this event, the Moon appears 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter. On August 19, the Moon was born at 19:41 and will be visible until morning. At this time, the distance between the Earth and the Moon is 361,969 kilometers.
Since the Moon's orbit is elliptical rather than circular, the distance between the Earth and the Moon is constantly changing. If the Moon at its perigee coincides with the Moon phase, then a Super Moon is observed.
Until the end of the year, the Super Moon will be observed on September 18, October 17, and November 15.
It is noted that the combination of Blue and Super Moon is a very rare event. The next Super Blue Full Moon will occur in 2037.
