The United States has approved the sale of AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles to Romania, valued at approximately $180 million.

Axar.az reports that this significant deal is intended to enhance Romania’s air-to-air capabilities as part of its ongoing Air Force modernization efforts.

The AIM-120 missiles are compatible with Romania's F-16 aircraft and other U.S. and NATO aircraft, including the F-35, providing advanced all-weather, beyond-visual-range combat capabilities.

U.S. Ambassador to Romania, Kathleen Kavalec, commended Romania for its acquisition, noting that it will significantly bolster the Romanian Air Force's ability to defend its territory and contribute to regional stability. She praised Romania's strong commitment to security and defense, reflecting positively on the recent improvements she observed at the 86th Air Base in Borcea.
