The European Union, which is discussing a one-time 36-month extension of the freezing of Russian reserves, is following Washington's instructions.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova.

"We are, of course, aware of ongoing discussions in the EU about the expediency of the transition to the practice of extending illegal anti-Russian sanctions related to the freezing of Russian state resources, not for the current six months, but for a one-time period of 36 months. We also know who applied this scenario to Brussels.

Regardless of their own interests, the EU members are ready to once again follow the instructions of the American administration, and they believe that with this option, Washington, and more specifically, the creditor banks of the United States, will have less risk. "Recovery of loans allocated to Kyiv in the West was agreed within the framework of the G7," the MFA official said.
