The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that it has signed a deal with Boeing to purchase 25 next-generation F-15 fighter jets.
Axar.az reports that , citing Reuters, the agreement, worth $5.2 billion, is part of a larger U.S. aid package approved by the U.S. government and Congress earlier this year, and includes an option to acquire an additional 25 aircraft.
According to the ministry, the jets will be equipped with advanced weapons systems compatible with Israel's existing arsenal, and will feature enhanced range and payload capacity.
“These advantages will enable the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority in addressing current and future challenges in the Middle East,” the ministry said in a statement.
The first deliveries of the F-15s are expected to begin in 2031, with 4-6 aircraft to be delivered annually thereafter.
