Azerbaijanis living in California’s Bay Area came together to celebrate May 28 – Independence Day and the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Axar.az reports organized by the Azerbaijani Cultural Society of Northern California, the event featured a car rally followed by a networking gathering.
In the first half of the day, a car convoy decorated with Azerbaijani flags traveled from Cupertino and San Jose toward San Francisco. The convoy attracted the attention of hundreds of local residents.
Following the rally, a networking event was held with the participation of the Azerbaijani community.
Nurlan Shukurli, Secretary for Operations and Events of the Azerbaijani Cultural Society of Northern California, noted that such events serve as an important bridge between newly arrived community members and longtime Azerbaijani residents in the U.S.
He emphasized that these initiatives play a vital role in helping Azerbaijani children born in the U.S. stay connected to their roots, embrace their national identity, and become more familiar with Azerbaijani culture.
Delicious Azerbaijani dishes were served to the event participants. Children enjoyed their time with various fun games. Performances by Azerbaijani singer Gunay Sana and the “Sound of Fire” drum group were met with great enthusiasm.
