Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Axar.az reports that the letter reads:

“To His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan

Dear Mr. President, dear friend.

I extend my most sincere congratulations to you, your family, and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day.

The relations between Israel and Azerbaijan have deep historical roots and have been further strengthened by our common values and strong, friendly relations between our peoples. Over the years, we have developed a partnership based on mutual trust, goodwill, and genuine respect between our governments and peoples.

I highly appreciate Azerbaijan’s continued support for the Jewish community and culture, as well as the continued solidarity it has shown to Israel since the Hamas attack on October 7 last year. Your country has shown an unforgettable example of kindness and friendship. I would also like to express my gratitude for Azerbaijan’s role in promoting dialogue between Israel and Turkey and developing regional cooperation.

Under your leadership, Azerbaijan has become a factor of stability and strength, a source of prosperity has become a beacon of hope and a model of successful economic development throughout the region.

I regret that unforeseen circumstances have necessitated a change in my work schedule, forcing me to postpone my long-awaited visit to Azerbaijan. However, I sincerely hope that we will meet at a time convenient for you, either in Israel or in Azerbaijan, so that we can continue to discuss our shared interests and aspirations.

With best wishes for many more years of prosperity, friendship, and success...”
